Our Story
From humble beginnings to Bristol’s most welcoming running community

Founded in 2000
The Hogweed Trotters formed in 2000 with just a handful of running enthusiasts. Since then the club has grown and currently has over 100 members, including some who helped establish the club over twenty years ago.
Community First
The Hogweeds is a very friendly social club, open to all who share our love of running. There’s a great atmosphere and people travel from all over Bristol and the surrounding areas to train with us.
Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned runner…
Whether you wish to improve your fitness, train for a 5k or 10k race, fulfil the dream of running a marathon, or love the challenge of off-road runs, you will feel at home with us. Our aim is to create a friendly welcoming environment where everyone can run to their full potential.
Enjoyment is the key
We try not to take ourselves too seriously and make our runs as enjoyable as possible, but also enjoying pushing the boundaries of what we are capable of.
We run for fun, train for races such as Bristol and Bath Half Marathons, the London Marathon and local races such as The Hogweed Trot 10k.
Training and social runs take place on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 pm and on Sunday mornings from 8:30 am – with runs taking place along the idyllic byways and country lanes of the Cotswolds – come rain or shine!
No one is ever left behind as the club has a policy of “sheep dogging” to ensure everyone feels included and is safely accounted for.
